Venus Aerospace

Venus Aerospace develops rotating detonation rocket engines and hypersonic spaceplane vehicles for Mach 9 global travel in about one hour.

Venus Aerospace, founded in 2020, develops detonation engine technology and hypersonic spaceplane vehicles intended to carry passengers anywhere on Earth in approximately one hour at Mach 9. The company's technical work spans rotating detonation rocket engines, rocket propulsion, hypersonic flight and spaceplane design, applied across the aerospace, space launch, defence systems and commercial high-speed aviation sectors.

Two programmes anchor its efforts. The rotating detonation rocket engine (RDRE) is described as the first generational improvement in rocket engine propulsion since the Apollo missions; Venus Aerospace has completed the first-ever U.S. flight of a rotating detonation rocket engine. Alongside it sits a runway-based hypersonic spaceplane concept designed for global travel at Mach 9 speeds.

The company operates in the United States and Japan. It was co-founded by husband-and-wife team Sarah 'Sassie' Duggleby and Dr. Andrew Duggleby, with an origin story rooted in solving long-haul flight fatigue. The team draws on experience from large aerospace companies and government organisations, and the company describes a hands-on engineering culture and an ambition to become the premier rocket engine company in the world.
