Focused Energy is a laser-driven inertial fusion energy company developing commercial-scale fusion power on the basis of proven laser fusion technologies. Its technical work spans laser systems engineering, fusion fuel engineering, plasma and target physics, fusion ignition and inertial fusion energy as a whole, with the aim of delivering safe, climate-neutral, virtually inexhaustible power generation.

Two products anchor the company's technical programme. Pearl™ fuel capsules are precision-engineered fusion fuel targets designed to optimise fuel performance and increase energy output; the company reports a 30x increase in energy output compared with current National Ignition Facility (NIF) approaches. LightHouse™ is Focused Energy's integrated laser fusion system architecture for delivering commercial-scale inertial fusion energy. The team builds on established scientific foundations, including work by members who achieved fusion ignition in 2021 and net energy gain in 2022 at the NIF, with emphasis on engineering rigour and validating commercial viability through integrated engineering prototypes.

Focused Energy operates from the San Francisco Bay Area and Darmstadt, Germany, and has a global footprint. It collaborates closely with government programmes, including the US Department of Energy Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program, and is funded by German innovation agencies.
