Swarm Aero

Swarm Aero develops large-scale uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) swarm technology designed to mobilize thousands of autonomous vehicles in communications-limited, contested environments. The work spans autonomous UAV swarm systems, on-aircraft autonomy, collaborative swarm behaviours, sensor mesh networking, edge computing and real-time autonomous decision-making, with the stated aim of delivering defence capability while keeping service members out of harm's way.

Three products anchor the technical stack. Swarm-designed aircraft are described as the first aircraft designed from the ground up specifically for swarming, with on-aircraft autonomy that executes collaborative swarm behaviours. The Universal Swarm Node creates sensor meshes and edge computing to distribute sensing and computation across the swarm. Browser-based command & control software translates human intent into vehicle-level behaviours that update in real time as conditions change.

Application areas span defence and military operations alongside logistics, humanitarian operations, disaster response, fire suppression, cargo delivery, and intelligence and surveillance. The company frames its scale proposition around small teams achieving overwhelming force, and around reducing the cost and risk traditionally associated with achieving air superiority.
