Seasats
Seasats builds solar-powered autonomous surface vehicles such as Lightfish, providing persistent maritime ISR and oceanographic data for defence, research and commercial customers.
Seasats builds autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) designed to deliver persistent maritime intelligence for defence, research and commercial customers. Its engineering work spans autonomous navigation, maritime robotics, solar-powered marine systems and sensor payload integration, applied to intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), oceanographic data collection and submarine signal tracking. The company's systems are intended to operate for extended periods without human intervention.
The flagship platform, Lightfish, is a solar-powered ASV capable of long-duration ocean missions. It is hand-deployable from a pickup truck and can operate autonomously for up to six months in sea state 6 conditions. A recorded Pacific crossing covered more than 7,500 miles over 150 days. A companion modular payload system offers 50-plus configurations, supporting ISR, wildlife monitoring, toxic algal bloom tracking, illegal fishing detection, submarine signal tracking, hurricane path monitoring and oceanographic data collection.
Customers include the U.S. Navy, other government and military organisations, research universities and commercial enterprises, with applications in maritime security, fisheries enforcement, environmental and weather monitoring. Systems have been deployed across every inhabited continent. The company is backed by L3Harris and Shield Capital.
