Vibrant Emotional Health

Vibrant Emotional Health is a nonprofit that builds and operates technology for crisis intervention and mental health services delivery. Its technical work spans crisis intervention technology, telehealth and helpline platforms, and the systems through which care is delivered to people in acute distress. The organisation works at national scale in the United States, with an additional concentration of services in New York City.

Its best-known programme is the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a national helpline providing emotional support and care that has helped millions of individuals and families. Other services include NYC 988, the Disaster Distress Helpline, which supports people experiencing disaster-related distress, and the NFL Life Line, a crisis support line serving NFL players and the wider community.

Founded in 1969, originally as the Mental Health Association of New York City, the organisation has operated for more than 55 years. Its work extends beyond crisis response to community wellness programmes, education and advocacy, with an emphasis on systemic change in how mental health care is delivered and perceived. The populations it serves include students, older adults, veterans and caregivers.
