Stairwell is a security platform for security operations (SOC), incident response (IR) and threat intelligence teams. Founded in 2019, the company builds systems that continuously preserve, analyse and reanalyse every file, applying AI enrichment to turn stored data into actionable threat intelligence. Rather than producing verdicts alone, the platform is designed to help analysts identify and trace threats and build comprehensive intelligence over time.
The technical work spans AI-powered file analysis, malware and threat analysis, AI enrichment and continuous reanalysis of retained data. A core premise is that data should be kept and revisited: as analysis techniques improve, previously observed files can be examined again under a private, continuous data model. This emphasis on retention, reanalysis and an analyst-centric product philosophy shapes the engineering problems the team takes on.
The company's sole product is the Stairwell platform. It serves the cybersecurity sector, with a focus on SOC, IR and threat intelligence use cases. Investors include Sequoia Capital, Accel, Gradient Ventures and S32. Founder Mike Wiacek previously created the Threat Analysis Group (TAG) at Google and co-founded Chronicle.
