Sardine, founded in 2020, builds an AI platform combining device intelligence and behaviour biometrics to detect payment fraud, identity fraud and account takeovers in real time for banks, retailers and fintechs.
Sardine is a fraud and compliance platform founded in 2020 that applies machine learning, device intelligence and behaviour biometrics to detect and prevent identity fraud, payment fraud, account takeovers and social engineering scams in real time. The system combines device-level signals with behavioural analysis under a unified AI risk platform, with an emphasis on preventing losses before transactions are completed rather than flagging them afterwards.
The company's technical work spans AI risk modeling, data science, device intelligence and behavioural biometrics. Its platform is used by more than 300 banks, retailers and fintechs across over 70 countries. According to the company, it secures more than $150 billion in payments and has stopped over $21 billion in fraud attempts.
Sardine has raised $145 million in total funding, with investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Visa and Google Ventures. It was founded by Soups Ranjan, a data scientist who previously worked on fraud at Coinbase and Revolut. The company serves customers in banking, retail, fintech, financial services and payments.
