Quilter is a physics-driven AI company building autonomous systems that design fabrication-ready printed circuit boards (PCBs) from schematic to completion in hours rather than weeks. Its autonomous PCB design AI is described as the first system of its kind: rather than relying on human heuristics, it is trained on first-principles physics, generating millions of possible layouts, evaluating each for physical side effects, and learning from that signal to arrive at novel solutions. Design cycle times are compressed from weeks to hours.
The technical stack spans first-principles physics simulation - including Maxwell's equations and thermodynamics - manufacturing constraint modelling, and generative design and layout optimisation. As a demonstration, the system autonomously designed a Linux computer with 843 components in 38.5 hours, against roughly 11 weeks for a human engineer. The company reports results across aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics and industrial manufacturing.
Quilter was founded by former SpaceX engineers, with roots in their firsthand experience of hardware development bottlenecks there. The stated mission is to make hardware development as fast and iterative as software deployment. The company has raised $25M in Series B funding.
