Prospect Group
Privately held manufacturer founded in 1945, providing composite and metallic machining, tooling design and proprietary project data software for tight-tolerance parts across aerospace, defence and automotive.
Prospect Group is a privately held manufacturing company specialising in composite and metallic machining and in tooling solutions for tight-tolerance complex parts. Its technical work spans CNC machining, tooling design, inspection and metrology, and CAD/CAM design carried out in Unigraphics-NX and Catia V5. The company also builds and maintains its own software: PDC (Prospect Data Center), a proprietary system that centrally manages project information across programmes.
The business is organised around three service lines. Production composite machining applies machining and inspection equipment to complex composite parts to tight tolerances; production metallic machining supports high-tolerance metal components; and tooling solutions cover the design and manufacture of tooling engineered in Unigraphics-NX and Catia V5. PDC was recognised as "Best in Class" by Ford Motor Company in 2013, from a field of 10,000 tooling suppliers.
Founded in 1945 as Prospect Mold & Die Company by William P. Wright, William Dalcher and Walter Nagel, the firm began in a garage on Prospect Avenue without cranes or running water. The 1997 acquisition of Akromold turned a local mould shop into a global machining and tooling operation, with headquarters in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and operations of global reach. Industries served include aerospace, defence, automotive, building products, housewares and heavy truck.
Prospect holds AS9100D, ISO 9001 and ITAR certifications and is an approved supplier to aerospace primes including Boeing and Lockheed Martin. The company continues to invest in machining and inspection equipment.
