Nudge
Nudge develops non-invasive whole-brain interfaces using focused ultrasound to stimulate and image the brain, with a human-ready system in research studies and portable home devices planned.
Nudge develops whole-brain interfaces for everyday life, built on focused ultrasound technology designed to interface with the brain safely, precisely and non-invasively. The company works across brain-computer interfaces, neurostimulation, neuroimaging, neuroscience research, and hardware and software engineering, taking a vertically integrated approach that combines these capabilities in-house.
Its first human-ready system, Nudge Zero, is a non-invasive, ultrasound-based device able to stimulate and image the brain at high resolution and depth. The company reports that it is currently conducting research studies on people nearly every day. Its first milestone target is to demonstrate that focused ultrasound delivered to the deep brain is safe and effective as a treatment for addiction, chronic pain and anxiety.
Longer term, Nudge is working towards portable devices for home use intended to improve mood, focus, sleep, learning and memory. The stated ambition is to build products that can benefit millions of people and, eventually, billions. Operating in the healthcare, neurotechnology and medical devices sectors, the company emphasises safety, precision and non-invasiveness, and the speed at which its technology can reach the people who need it.
