Muon Space

Muon Space builds multi-modal Earth remote sensing satellites and the Muon Halo platform, from concept to orbit; its FireSat wildfire constellation launched its first satellite in 2026.

Muon Space, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, is an end-to-end space systems provider building a multi-modal Earth remote sensing satellite platform intended to deliver scientific-grade measurements from concept to orbit. The company was established by aerospace veterans from NASA, Skybox Imaging and Loft Orbital, and now employs more than 125 engineers and scientists working across spacecraft platform design, payload integration, space systems engineering and constellation deployment.

Its core technology, Muon Halo, combines advanced spacecraft platforms, payload integration and a software-defined orchestration layer into a single stack. The architecture is designed to compress the interval between concept and in-orbit operation, and to support rapid, adaptable deployment of sensing missions. Technical work spans multi-modal remote sensing, software-defined orchestration and climate data collection.

Muon Space's first constellation programme, FireSat, targets wildfire detection; its first satellite was successfully launched in 2026. The company also serves defence and commercial markets: in 2026 it was awarded a Missile Defense Agency contract with a $151 billion ceiling under an IDIQ arrangement. Verticals include climate monitoring, wildfire detection, missile defence and broader Earth observation.

The firm describes itself as mission-driven, with a stated focus on closing climate data gaps and an emphasis on speed, adaptability and scientific rigour. The team is growing rapidly.
