Aetherflux
Aetherflux builds space-based solar power satellite constellations in Low Earth Orbit that transmit energy to Earth by infrared laser, combining on-orbit computing with power delivery for AI workloads.
Aetherflux, operating as Cowboy Space Corporation, is an American aerospace and energy company founded in 2024 and based in San Carlos, California. It is building space-based solar power infrastructure: constellations of satellites in Low Earth Orbit that collect solar energy and beam it to Earth as infrared laser power, with the stated aim of delivering renewable energy to locations worldwide. The company targets the growing electricity demands of AI workloads and data centres, and names forward-deployed military bases and remote mining operations among the intended use cases.
Its technical work spans satellite constellations, Low Earth Orbit systems, infrared laser power transmission, optical data transmission and high-performance satellite computing. One product line integrates computation with power: a combined satellite computing and power system that pairs on-orbit high-performance computing with optical data links inside a solar power constellation, supporting both energy delivery and compute capacity. Engineers working at the intersection of orbital systems, optics, power electronics and distributed computing are therefore central to the roadmap.
The company has raised a $50m Series A, with a further Series B of roughly $250m-350m reported to be in discussion at a reported $2bn valuation. Investors include Breakthrough Energy Ventures. Aetherflux was founded by Baiju Bhatt, co-founder of Robinhood. Its first demonstration in space is targeted for 2026.
