Lunaphore

Swiss life sciences company founded in 2014 developing microfluidic chip technology and the COMET™ platform for automated multiplex spatial proteomic and transcriptomic analysis of tissues.

Lunaphore is a Swiss life sciences company founded in 2014 that develops microfluidic chip technology for extracting spatial proteomic and transcriptomic data from tumours and other tissues. Its approach converts simple assays into multiplex spatial biology without added complexity, with the stated aim of making spatial biology accessible to every laboratory. The company is part of Bio-Techne's Spatial Biology Division and collaborates with ACD's RNAscope™ technology.

Its principal product, the COMET™ platform, is a fully automated, high-throughput spatial biology system spanning the workflow from assay development to cohort analysis. The company reports that this workflow can be completed in a matter of weeks. The platform works with off-the-shelf, label-free primary antibodies rather than proprietary formulations, avoiding reagent lock-in for researchers.

Applications span oncology and tumour research, immuno-oncology, neuroscience, immunology and the development of personalised therapeutics. Technical domains include spatial biology, microfluidics, spatial proteomics and transcriptomics, multiplex tissue analysis, multiomics and assay automation. Much of the team comes from a research background, and the company frames its work around reducing friction in tissue analysis and accelerating the development of next-generation personalised therapies.
