Known

Known is an AI-powered dating application built around a voice-based matchmaking system rather than swiping. Users are onboarded through extended conversations with an AI voice agent, in which they describe their life stories, values, personality traits and relationship aspirations; average onboarding conversations run to roughly 27 minutes. Multi-modal machine-learning models then analyse voice transcripts, images and structured user data to identify compatible pairings and to arrange in-person dates.

The technical work spans natural-language processing and transcript analysis, AI voice agents, multi-modal data analysis and matchmaking algorithms. In its San Francisco test phase the product converted 80% of initial introductions into physical dates. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and raised $10 million in seed funding from investors including Forerunner Ventures, NFX and PearVC.

Known was founded by Stanford dropouts Celeste Amadon and Asher Allen. Its stated mission is to apply general intelligence to human connection, with a product focus on intentionality, depth and in-person interaction over extended texting.
