Flock Freight

Flock Freight is a US freight brokerage using patented AI-powered pooling to combine shipments into Shared Truckloads, letting shippers pay only for the space they use while cutting emissions.

Flock Freight is a freight brokerage founded in 2015 that applies artificial intelligence and machine learning to one of logistics' oldest inefficiencies: partially filled trucks. Its patented pooling technology matches shipments from multiple businesses and combines them into Shared Truckloads (STL), so that each shipper pays only for the space it needs while carriers earn more per load and truck capacity is used more fully. The company describes its mission as optimising the world's freight transportation resources and building a more sustainable supply chain.

Shared Truckload is the firm's flagship service, offering shippers truckload-level service by pooling freight from thousands of businesses. Flock Freight claims the position of largest Shared Truckload freight brokerage in the United States. Its pooling technology is reported to cut carbon emissions by up to 40% compared with traditional shipping methods. Customers range from Fortune 500 enterprises to emerging brands, across verticals including food and beverage, retail, electronics, building materials and packaging.

The technical work spans logistics optimisation, freight pooling technology and supply chain technology, in addition to the AI and machine-learning systems behind the matching engine. Flock Freight is headquartered in Encinitas, California, with an additional office in Chicago, Illinois, and operates throughout the United States.

The company has been a Certified B Corp since 2020, meeting standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. It states that it was founded with a vision to turn industry inefficiencies into sustainable solutions.
