Artisan is a San Francisco-based company, founded in 2023, that builds what it calls AI employees: intelligent AI collaborators designed to consolidate the SaaS ecosystem into a single platform. Its technical work spans AI agents, autonomous AI orchestration, generative AI, AI/ML and SaaS platform engineering, applied to the automation of repetitive work such as outbound sales.
The company's first product is Ava, an AI BDR (Business Development Representative) that handles outbound sales tasks autonomously. Its second, the Artisan Platform, consolidates the sales stack - CRM, inbox, dialer, lead database and campaign engine - into one solution, and manages hundreds of millions of leads. The stated aim is to position AI collaborators as partners working alongside humans, freeing them from manual tasks; the company envisages expanding this approach across all business functions.
Artisan employs more than 30 people and has raised over $35m from investors including Y Combinator, Sequoia, BOND, HubSpot Ventures and Soma Capital. The team includes people with experience at Meta, IBM and BCG. Industry verticals addressed include outbound sales, SaaS, business development and go-to-market or revenue operations.
