Apptronik

Apptronik, an Austin-based spinout from the University of Texas at Austin, builds general-purpose humanoid robots, including Apollo, for logistics and manufacturing work.

Apptronik builds general-purpose humanoid robots intended to work alongside people. Founded in 2016 and based in Austin, Texas, the company was spun out of the Human Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas at Austin. Its stated aim is to address labour shortages, reduce work-related injuries and improve quality of life, with the mission framed as "robots for humans".

The company's principal product is Apollo, a general-purpose humanoid robot designed to take on tasks that employees would rather not do, in order to reduce turnover and injuries associated with overexertion. Apollo is positioned as a tool for improving how people live and work, and is aimed principally at the logistics and manufacturing sectors.

Apptronik's engineering work spans humanoid robotics, bipedal locomotion, robotic arms, exoskeletons and general-purpose robotics. The company describes its approach as combining engineering excellence with ethical, human-centric design principles, emphasising harmony between people and machines and a focus on worker safety.
