Watershed, founded in 2019, is an enterprise sustainability AI platform that helps companies measure, report and reduce their environmental impact. Its technical work spans AI and machine learning, climate science, sustainability data and analytics, emissions measurement and reporting, and carbon accounting. The company is headquartered in the United States and operates globally.

The Watershed sustainability platform combines climate science, a sustainability database and AI to help companies cut emissions and identify opportunities, risks and decisions. A central asset is a database containing more than 500,000 emissions factors, which underpins the measurement and reporting functions of the product.

The company reports more than 90 Fortune 500 customers, including four of the top six US banks and six of the top 10 global private equity firms. Its customers collectively manage more than 3.3 gigatonnes of CO2 equivalent - more than the combined annual emissions of France, the UK, Germany and Italy. Industry verticals served include technology, travel and hospitality, logistics and shipping, retail, financial services, private equity, automotive, and media.

Watershed raised a $100M Series C in February 2024, valuing the company at $1.8 billion. It has stated a goal of reducing or removing 500 megatonnes of CO2 equivalent by 2030, roughly 1% of annual global emissions.
