URBN

URBN is a multinational lifestyle retail corporation of eight consumer brands, including Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and Nuuly, founded in Philadelphia in 1970.

URBN is a multinational lifestyle retail corporation and a portfolio of global consumer brands. Its eight brands comprise Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, FP Movement, Anthropologie Weddings, Terrain, Menus & Venues and Nuuly, spanning apparel and fashion, home décor and furniture, weddings, activewear and food and venues. The company is headquartered in the historic Navy Yard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and operates in the United States, Canada and Europe.

The business dates to 1970, when a single storefront opened across from the University of Pennsylvania. The original shop, named Free People, sold second-hand clothing, furniture, jewellery and home décor, and served as a community centre for creative students. It was founded by young entrepreneurs - Dick Hayne, then 23, together with his college roommate Scott Belair and Judy Wicks. The company went public with an initial public offering in 1993.

URBN states that it has maintained its founding values since 1970: a passionate, creative and entrepreneurial culture that celebrates individuality and creativity, a focus on unique retail experiences, and a singular emphasis on pleasing customers through each brand's distinct point of view.
