Unstructured Technologies Inc.

Unstructured Technologies Inc. builds an enterprise ETL platform and open-source tools that turn unstructured documents into structured, AI-ready data for generative AI and RAG pipelines.

Unstructured Technologies Inc., founded in 2022, is an enterprise-grade ETL platform that converts complex, unstructured data into clean, structured inputs for generative AI applications. The problem it addresses is a large one: unstructured sources are estimated to account for around 80% of enterprise data, and the company's tools are aimed at the parsing and transformation layer beneath retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and other AI data pipelines. Technical work spans document parsing, unstructured data processing, data integration and connectors, and pipeline engineering.

The company offers two main lines of work. The commercial Unstructured Platform provides an API and UI for converting unstructured documents into structured formats, supporting more than 64 file types including PDFs, HTML, Word documents and images. Alongside it sits an open-source toolset for the same transformation tasks, which has recorded more than 52 million downloads. Reported usage figures include more than 50,000 companies on the platform, 30+ connectors, over 1,250 pipelines, and adoption across 87% of the Fortune 1000. Customers span commercial enterprises and the US federal government, where FedRAMP High certification signals a focus on security and compliance.

The company has raised more than $65m, with investors including Menlo Ventures, Bain Capital, Databricks, NVIDIA, Microsoft and IBM. External recognition includes listings by CB Insights and Forbes among leading AI companies, and a ranking of #24 on Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies.
