Slate

Slate is a daily online magazine and podcast network founded in 1996, publishing general-interest analysis and commentary on politics, news, business, technology and culture. Based in the United States and operating as a web-based publication, it reaches millions of readers and has been recognised with the National Magazine Award for General Excellence Online.

Its technical work spans digital publishing, web media, podcast production, newsletter publishing and online games. Content is distributed across four formats: the Slate website and magazine, a podcast network producing audio commentary alongside the written work, Slate games, and email newsletters that extend editorial content.

The publication describes its editorial approach as combining humour and insight, a style it characterises as "the voice of the web".
