SCAN Health Plan

A not-for-profit Medicare Advantage organisation founded in 1977, offering HMO and dual special needs plans plus senior community services to more than 500,000 members across six states.

SCAN Health Plan is a not-for-profit Medicare Advantage organisation founded in 1977. It provides health plans and community services aimed at keeping seniors healthy and independent. The organisation traces its origins to a group of twelve seniors in Long Beach, California, known as the '12 Angry Seniors', and retains a mission-driven, community-rooted orientation, with programmes designed to be culturally relevant and services extending beyond healthcare to include housing and transportation.

Its product portfolio comprises Medicare Advantage HMO plans for older adults; Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNP Medicare) for people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid; and ancillary benefits covering dental, vision, hearing and fitness. These are delivered across a health plan operating model spanning Medicare Advantage managed care, senior care services and health plan operations.

SCAN Health Plan serves more than 500,000 members and operates in six states: Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and Washington. Its work sits at the intersection of healthcare, health insurance, Medicare managed care and senior services.
