Obvio

Obvio makes solar-powered AI traffic cameras that detect dangerous driving at intersections and school zones for real-time enforcement.

Obvio builds solar-powered, AI-powered traffic cameras that are deployed at intersections and school zones to detect dangerous driving behaviours automatically and enable real-time enforcement. Founded in 2021, the company targets behaviours including stop sign violations, speeding, failure to yield, distracted driving and crosswalk violations. Its systems install in under a week and require no power or utility permissions.

Technically, the work spans edge AI and on-device processing, computer vision, AI camera technology, traffic violation detection, hardware design and solar-powered IoT devices. Violation detection runs locally on the camera; data is transmitted only when a violation is detected, a design choice the company frames as balancing privacy with effectiveness.

Municipalities in early deployments have reported violation reductions of 50% within months of installation. The founders previously worked together at Motive, where technology they built protected more than 200,000 trucks and delivered a 24% reduction in crash rates.

Obvio raised a $22m Series A in 2025. It operates on American roadways with the stated aim of national expansion and, ultimately, safer streets globally.
