NexHealth

NexHealth, founded in 2017 in San Francisco, builds APIs and infrastructure that integrate fragmented EHR systems for healthcare practices, developers and patients.

NexHealth builds the digital infrastructure that connects patients, providers and developers in American healthcare. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in San Francisco, the company maintains a unified layer over fragmented electronic health record (EHR) systems, a technical problem that sits at the intersection of healthcare interoperability, APIs and developer platforms, data synchronisation and payments infrastructure. Its flagship product, NexHealth Synchronizer, links thousands of fragmented, on-premise and closed EHR systems into a single platform, on which software, APIs, payments and patient experiences are then built.

A second product, the NexHealth Patient Experience Platform, handles scheduling, payments, intake, forms, communications and insurance verification for medical practices; more than 10,000 practices use it. The company reports that tens of thousands of providers and hundreds of health-tech developers work with its infrastructure, and that roughly a quarter of the US population has received care through the platform at some point.

NexHealth has raised $177M, most recently at Series C, and was valued at $1B. It is founder-led, having been established by Alamin Uddin and Waleed Asif, and describes its mission as accelerating innovation in healthcare by unifying a patchwork of legacy clinical systems. Technical work concentrates on EHR integration, real-time data synchronisation across closed systems, developer-facing APIs and the payments and patient communications software layered on top.
