Method Financial
Method Financial provides a unified API for real-time consumer credit and liability account connectivity with embedded payments, supporting lending and debt repayment infrastructure in the United States.
Method Financial builds a unified API that connects in real time to consumer credit and liability accounts and embeds payments within that connection. Founded in 2021 and operating in the United States, the company sells infrastructure to lenders, personal-finance providers, employers and banks, allowing them to run end-to-end lending experiences and modern debt repayment without stitching together separate data and payment rails. Its systems span financial data connectivity, payments infrastructure, credential-less authentication and consumer account aggregation.
The flagship Method unified API has connected some 24 million liability accounts and serves roughly 3 million users; the company says it has facilitated hundreds of millions of dollars in repayments. Alongside it sits a credential-less authentication system under which users link their financial accounts using only a phone number, removing the need to share usernames and passwords. The engineering work centres on real-time data pipelines, payments plumbing and lending workflows across a large account base.
Method Financial describes its purpose as addressing fragmented and out-of-date consumer finance infrastructure, with an emphasis on giving consumers more control over their financial lives and on eliminating the security risks inherent in credential sharing. The company is backed by investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Emergence Capital and Y Combinator.
