Honeycomb

Honeycomb provides an observability platform that unifies logs, metrics and traces in one query engine, backed by a purpose-built columnar database for high-cardinality telemetry.

Honeycomb builds an observability platform for debugging complex, distributed systems in real time. It unifies logs, metrics and traces into a single query engine, returning results in under a second across telemetry of arbitrary cardinality. The company was founded by former Facebook engineers Christine Yen and Charity Majors, and pioneered the event-based approach to observability.

Central to the platform is a proprietary columnar database designed specifically for high-cardinality telemetry, which removes the usual trade-off between data volume and query performance. The system runs on AWS Graviton ARM processors and incorporates AI-assisted debugging and anomaly detection. Integrations are OpenTelemetry-native and span the software development lifecycle, aligning the product with the open-source telemetry ecosystem.

Honeycomb reports thousands of customers worldwide, including Slack, Intercom, Dropbox and Booking.com. It operates across software engineering, technology and cloud services, with a stated focus on making production systems comprehensible at any scale.
