Forerunner
Forerunner builds an AI-powered platform that helps government agencies process geospatial data for climate adaptation, floodplain management, and emergency response.
Forerunner has raised $39M to build an AI-powered platform that helps government agencies make sense of complex geospatial data for climate adaptation. The company’s Forerunner Platform acts as an operating system for agencies managing floodplains, coordinating emergency responses, and streamlining permits - replacing fragmented legacy tools with a unified system that processes hundreds of datasets and cuts response times from weeks to hours. Over 190 government agencies currently rely on it.
The company’s technical work spans AI-powered platform development, geospatial data processing, real-time flood visualization, and automated workflow creation. Engineers leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code, and are expected to own features end-to-end - from database modeling to pixel-perfect UI.
Forerunner’s engineering culture is notably integrated: engineers work directly with public servants, and product, design, and customer success teams are not siloed. The team ships constantly, hearing directly from users and letting feedback shape what they build next.
