DDN

DDN provides high-performance data storage and data management infrastructure for large-scale AI, HPC and supercomputing, powering GPU-accelerated workloads worldwide.

DDN, founded in 1998, builds high-performance data storage and management infrastructure for large-scale AI, high-performance computing (HPC) and supercomputing deployments. Its core product, the DDN Data Intelligence Platform, is designed to feed data to compute-intensive workloads at scale: the company reports that its infrastructure supports more than 500,000 NVIDIA GPUs and achieves GPU utilisation of up to 98%, alongside a stated performance advantage of up to 10x over competitors. Around 60% of the world's top supercomputing systems use DDN infrastructure, according to the company.

The platform is applied across AI research and engineering domains including autonomous vehicles, drug discovery, financial modelling, genomic research and sovereign AI initiatives. DDN claims its systems accelerate genomic research by a factor of ten. The company works with organisations including NVIDIA, xAI and Singtel, and supports more than 11,000 organisations worldwide, drawing on over 25 years of expertise in high-performance data storage and management.

DDN describes itself as the largest privately held data storage company and was valued at $5 billion in 2024, the year it received a $300m strategic investment from Blackstone. Its engineering focus is on data infrastructure: storage systems, data management and a data intelligence layer intended to handle data complexity at AI and supercomputing scale, so that teams building models and applications can concentrate on the algorithms and workloads themselves.
