Common Securitization Solutions
Joint venture of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac operating the cloud-native Common Securitization Platform for issuing and administering U.S. mortgage-backed securities.
Common Securitization Solutions is a joint venture of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, founded in 2013, that operates the Common Securitization Platform (CSP) - a cloud-native technology platform for the issuance and administration of mortgage-backed securities in the United States. The CSP standardises and consolidates previously fragmented securitisation processes across both government-sponsored enterprises onto a single system. It handles 71% of all mortgage-backed securities issued and administered in the U.S. market, with trillions of dollars in securities processed.
The technical work spans cloud-native platform development, market infrastructure and financial technology, built on AWS. A defining engineering focus is availability: in 2023 the company achieved an Active/Active architecture across AWS regions with zero data loss. The platform underpins the issuance and administration of securities supporting millions of American homeowners and connects the secondary mortgage market to investors worldwide.
The company describes itself as the largest mortgage securitisation administrator in the financial services industry. Its stated priorities include reliability, resiliency and the use of unified technology to improve market liquidity, transparency and efficiency. Operations are centred in the United States, with cloud infrastructure spanning multiple AWS regions.
