Citizen Health

Citizen Health builds an AI-powered patient advocacy platform giving rare and complex disease patients control of their health data, care navigation and research.

Citizen Health builds an AI-powered patient advocacy platform for people with rare and complex diseases, founded in 2023. The company's technical work centres on agentic AI, health data platforms, clinical data interoperability and patient data management, applied to the problem of giving patients control over their own medical records, care navigation and participation in research.

Its main product, AI Advocate, is a personal AI advocate delivered to patients' phones. Built on agentic AI, it draws instant answers from a patient's medical records, helps families prepare for appointments and supports care coordination. The product is free for patients and is trusted by more than 100 patient advocacy groups. The company holds SOC2 certification.

The underlying aim is to accelerate the development of treatments for rare and complex diseases by putting patients in charge of their own health data and research. Citizen Health's founders have prior nonprofit and startup experience: co-founder Nasha Fitter's daughter was diagnosed with the rare disease FOXG1 syndrome, and the founders previously worked on a nonprofit for that condition and on Ciitizen, a health data company co-founded in 2017 by Farid Vij and joined by Nasha Fitter in 2018, with an earlier focus on oncology.
